The US Embassies sponsor a variety of international exchange programs each year, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). These exchanges are designed to enhance mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and other nations.The Department of State is committed to supporting alumni by providing resources that will help them to build upon their exchange experience.

Alumni Opportunities


U.S. government-sponsored (USG) exchange program participants and alumni have a number of opportunities to be involved in post-exchange activities, as well as receive access to specialized resources such as:

Who is an alumnus(a)?


You are an alumnus(a) of a USG exchange program if you have participated in at least one exchange program that are or have been sponsored by the U.S. Embassy within your country: Visit exchanges.state.gov to view a list of sponsored exchange programs

The International Exchange Alumni website is an exclusive online community for current and emerging leaders who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs. By registering to join the website, members gain access to the membership benefits listed below.

International Exchange Alumni features valuable resources to support the personal and professional development of exchange alumni.
Access the $33 billion Grants database with funding opportunities from organizations around the world. Or post your own grant opportunity for alumni!
Compete in the annual Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund
Read–or listen to–current events and the latest academic research through the eLibrary of more than 20,000 publications. Publications are often available in several languages.
Search for Professional Development opportunities.

Use International Exchange Alumni to connect with alumni and share ideas!
Connect with more than 100,000 global alumni already registered on the website. Also find Alumni Associations by country.
Post Alumni Updates to share alumni-related news with your alumni.
Search Events posted by other site members or share an event that you are organizing.
 

Member registration
Alumni can register on International Exchange Alumni (https://alumni.state.gov/user/register) to gain access to site resources. Registration instructions can be found in several languages on the site.
Colleagues at U.S. State Department partner organizations can also request a site membership. To do so, please send an email to exchangealumni@state.gov requesting the International Exchange Alumni registration form.


All alumni are invited to register for the site by clicking “Join Now.” All members are verified as alumni of a U.S. government-sponsored exchange program before receiving full access.
